No Return for the King?

In the last few days Newry fans were given the shock news that our legendary captain and stalwart Darren King was to ‘step away from playing’ this season.

Although it is not an official retirement as yet with Darren promising to step back in ‘if needs be’. It was a huge surprise to me and I'm sure to most of our supporters who were confident in Darren completing another season for us - especially in the Championship with a step down in quality from last seasons Premiership.

But I am sure Darren has his reasons and we fully respect his decision to step away from playing after such a long and distinguished career and hopefully we haven’t seen the last of him in a Newry shirt.
