SEASON NOTES
Limavady Utd joined the Northern Section while Dungannon Swifts and Omagh Town joined the Southern Section.
In November 1972 Derry City were omitted from the Irish League (which had yet to begin) due to the troubles. Larne were chosen to take their place despite having already played 11 games (18 points) in the B Division North that season.
- Derry City Reserves had played 5 games (1 point) before also having to withdraw from the B Division North.
- 2 points for a win
- No promotion or relegation.
